Though a unique collaboration involving public, private and nonprofit resources with the support of the Governor’s Energy Office, Mi Casa recently completed the installation of a 40.5kW solar energy array at our home on Acoma Street.
Graduates of Mi Casa’s Green Construction & Energy career training program worked to install the 180 solar panels, gaining on-the-job work experience and a shot at permanent employment on a solar installation crew.
Mi Casa’s 40.5kW solar array will produce an estimated 53,330 kWh per year, which will offset roughly 24% of Mi Casa’s total energy consumption at the Acoma Street location. Prior to installing solar panels, Mi Casa invested in wide-ranging energy efficiency upgrades to maximize cost-savings and energy-efficiency.
